Hitchhiker’s preview

Here’s a site with some preproduction artwork and headshots for much of the main cast of next summer’s The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy.

Why did I not know that Malkovitch was in this?

Again, I am leery of Mos Def playing Ford Prefect, but I’ll wait and see. He apparently was cast on the strength of a stage performance he gave in London. In my ideal world, Prefect would be played either by Bruce Campbell (who was considered for the role of Zaphod Beeblebrox, which would also have been interesting) or Jason Carter, who played Marcus Cole on Babylon 5.

Marvin’s design is not what I imagined, but I think it’ll work.

Arthur Dent looks utterly, perfectly, exactly like Arthur Dent, except that he is not Hugh Laurie, alas.

Trillian… yum.

I think Sam Rockwell will go to town with the role of Zaphod, except that I hear that he doesn’t have two heads. (Well, he does, but one is inside his nostril(?).)

But I still wanna know what the Henson–designed Vogons look like, darn it.

And how, pray tell, does the script set up the audience for the gloriously lunatic Vogon Poetry Appreciation Chairs scene? Is there going to be a narrator, voicing the Guide?

I’m letting my hopes creep up on this one. I know I shouldn’t.

So I reiterate my mantra: Please don’t f!&#* it up, guys!
